Daily Norges Bank exchange rates for 38 currencies against the Norwegian krone (NOK) — EUR, USD, GBP, SEK, DKK and 33 more — with free charts, a converter, history back to about 1980, and MCP access for AI assistants.
How much of a US dollar price should each country pay? One number per country, from World Bank GNI per capita (PPP) — a Bangladeshi household has roughly one-eighth the buying power of an American one, and today pays the same price for the same ebook. The recommended factor is a multiplier on the USD price: 1.00 is full price, and it never goes above that. The raw measurement does, for countries wealthier per capita than the United States.

(current international $), published once a year. Factor is
min(1, max(0.35, (GNI ÷ US GNI)0.5)). The floor exists because
card fees of $0.30 + 2.9% eat more than a tenth of a smaller charge. The same numbers are
available at /api/buyingpower and over MCP as
get_buying_power and list_buying_power.
Every rate on this page is the official daily reference rate published by Norges Bank, the central bank of Norway, quoted against the Norwegian krone. Norges Bank publishes once per business day at about 16:00 CET and the service syncs shortly after, so a NOK exchange rate here is the same number the bank published — not an interbank quote, not a retail rate, and never interpolated for a weekend or a Norwegian public holiday. Cross-rates between any two currencies (EUR to USD, say) are derived through NOK.
The rate table, the charts and the converter are free and need no account. The same data is available to an AI assistant over MCP: see how to connect Currency Exchange to Claude or another MCP client.
All rates are quoted against the Norwegian krone (NOK), exactly as Norges Bank publishes them. Thirty-five currencies: Australian Dollar (AUD), Bangladeshi Taka (BDT), Brazilian Real (BRL), Belarusian Ruble (BYN), Canadian Dollar (CAD), Swiss Franc (CHF), Chinese Yuan (CNY), Czech Koruna (CZK), Danish Krone (DKK), Euro (EUR), British Pound (GBP), Hong Kong Dollar (HKD), Hungarian Forint (HUF), Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), Israeli New Shekel (ILS), Indian Rupee (INR), Icelandic Krona (ISK), Japanese Yen (JPY), South Korean Won (KRW), Myanmar Kyat (MMK), Mexican Peso (MXN), Malaysian Ringgit (MYR), New Zealand Dollar (NZD), Philippine Peso (PHP), Pakistani Rupee (PKR), Polish Zloty (PLN), Romanian Leu (RON), Swedish Krona (SEK), Singapore Dollar (SGD), Thai Baht (THB), Turkish Lira (TRY), New Taiwan Dollar (TWD), US Dollar (USD), Vietnamese Dong (VND) and South African Rand (ZAR). Plus three official Norges Bank indices, available through the same tools: I44 (import-weighted krone exchange rate), TWI (trade-weighted krone exchange rate) and XDR (IMF Special Drawing Rights). Thirty-eight series in total. Cross-rates between any two of them are derived through NOK by the convert tool.
Norges Bank publishes once per business day, at about 16:00 CET. The service syncs shortly after. Weekends and Norwegian public holidays have no new rate — a request for such a date returns the published series as it stands, not an invented value. Because a day's rates never change once published, they are safe to cache.
To roughly 1980, depending on the currency — some series start later because Norges Bank began publishing them later. get_rate takes any date; get_rates_range returns a date-range series for charts and analysis.
A free Publifye account includes 10 MCP calls a day, resetting at midnight UTC. That is meant for evaluation — enough to connect it to an assistant and ask real questions before deciding. Currency Access ($4/month) raises it to 25,000 calls a month, spendable in bursts rather than a daily trickle. Separately, the charts and converter on this site are free and need no account at all.
Either. Sign in once from any MCP client over OAuth 2.1 and your plan rides on your account — nothing to copy or store. For scripts and clients without a browser, your Publifye account also holds a personal API key sent as an X-API-Key header. It is revealed once and can be rotated at any time. Both lanes draw on the same allowance.
Currency Exchange is built and run by Publifye AS, a Norwegian publishing house in Oslo (organisation number 826 774 622, founded 2016) — a company that publishes Bibles and books, builds the tools they are studied with, and runs infrastructure for churches. Its other products are listed at publifye.org.
